Oracle Fusion - New Data Extraction Tool, Getting Started.

Oracle has introduced a new Data Extraction tool, delivering a modern approach to extracting data across Fusion modules. From Oracle’s perspective, this capability provides:

  • A streamlined, Redwood-based interface

  • Configurable extraction schedules

  • A more intuitive experience for managing data pulls

  • A forward-looking alternative to legacy extraction methods

While the tool is currently in early release and functional coverage is still expanding, it represents a clear step in Oracle’s evolution of data extraction within Fusion applications.

For organisations working with Fusion data particularly those exploring modern alternatives to legacy extraction frameworks this is a capability worth evaluating.

We encourage NZOUG members, Customers, to review the full details in the blog below and consider how this emerging tool may fit into your broader data, reporting, and integration strategy

Why This Matters

For many organisations, data extraction underpins:

  • Reporting and analytics

  • Data warehousing

  • Integration with external systems

  • Compliance and audit processes

This new tool reflects Oracle’s broader Redwood strategy — modern UX, improved performance, and stronger security alignment

Enabling the Data Extraction Tool

It’s important to note that the Data Extraction tool is turned off by default and will not appear in the application until it is enabled.

Step 1: Opt-In to the Feature

In this initial release, the feature is available under:

Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management offering

The feature name to opt into is:

“Redwood: Extract Application Data from a Read-Optimized Data Store using a Redwood Page”

This opt-in is completed via Fusion Setup Manager.

Step 2: Locate the Tool

Once enabled:

  • The application will appear under Tools in Fusion.

Step 3: Submit a Support Request (SR)

To fully activate the feature, customers must raise a Support Request (SR) with Oracle and select:

Product: Oracle Applications Platform

This additional activation step is required in the current release.

Getting Started: Pre-Requisites & Security Configuration

A core pillar of the new Data Extraction tool is its strong emphasis on security and permissions. Before using the tool, administrators must complete essential configuration steps.

1️⃣ Enable Required Profile Option

To configure:

  1. Navigate to My Enterprise → Setup and Maintenance in Oracle Fusion

  2. Click on the Tasks icon

  3. Search for and open Manage Administrator Profile Values

From here, you can enable the required profile option to support the Data Extraction capability.

NZOUG Perspective

From our engagement with members across New Zealand, we see increasing demand for:

  • Secure data extraction

  • Modern user experience (Redwood-based interfaces)

  • Scalable and future-ready integration patterns

The new Data Extraction tool aligns well with these priorities. While it is still maturing, it signals Oracle’s direction — moving away from legacy extraction frameworks toward a more secure, read-optimised architecture.

We encourage NZOUG members to:

  • Evaluate the tool in non-production environments

  • Engage Oracle early via SRs where required

  • Share experiences within the NZOUG community

As a Oracle Cloud Technical SME & NZOUG Secretary, I’ll continue to monitor developments and provide updates as coverage expands across additional modules.

If your organisation is planning analytics or integration enhancements in Fusion Cloud, this is definitely a feature to watch
